BREAKING NEWS: Landon Donovan is new Swansea Manager

In a move that sees Francesco Guidolin move upstairs as director of football the former American international who holds the record for the most caps, goals, assists and home runs for his country will take over with immediate effect.

Landon had been working as assistant manager for Yale College and is said to have played a major role in guiding them to their first Eastern America College cup this year. It will still be seen as a big step up but it is thought that his profile will help attract the big player names that the new owners hope to attract.

No official statement has been released yet from the club but a press conference has been announced for 9 am tomorrow morning, Donovan has boarded a plane from JFK airport and is expected to arrive in Heathrow later this evening and it is widely expected that the new manager will face the media at the Liberty Stadium in the morning.
